EcoAlpha organized a field trip to the Seneca Wastewater Treatment Plant in Eagan, giving youth members and local participants the chance to see how wastewater is collected, treated, and safely returned to the environment. With guidance from plant staff, attendees explored each stage of the process, from screening and sedimentation to biological treatment and disinfection. They learned how water quality is carefully monitored to protect ecosystems and public health.
EcoAlpha helped participants connect local infrastructure to broader environmental issues and climate challenges. The field trip deepened understanding of the importance of sustainable water management and reinforced EcoAlpha’s mission to inspire youth and community leadership in protecting natural resources.
