EcoAlpha hosted an educational outreach activity at the Mid-Autumn Festival to teach the public about the dangers of invasive plant species and their effects on native ecosystems. Visitors participated in interactive games and hands-on learning stations that illustrated how invasive plants spread, why they are harmful to local biodiversity, and what individuals can do to stop their expansion.
Participants also practiced identifying some of the most common invasive plants—such as buckthorn, garlic mustard, and purple loosestrife—and learned safe and effective methods for managing or removing them. The event emphasized small, everyday actions like cleaning hiking boots, bike tires, and gardening tools to prevent the unintentional spread of invasive seeds. By combining environmental education with fun, family-friendly activities, EcoAlpha inspired festival-goers to take proactive steps in protecting native habitats.
