EcoAlpha brought environmental education to Mall of America’s Mid-Autumn Festival and U.S. 250th birthday celebration on September 26, 2026. Through its Hennepin County–funded Zero Waste Ambassador project, 26 youth leaders engaged more than 300 visitors at an educational booth focused on waste reduction and proper recycling.
About half of those reached were children and youth, creating valuable opportunities for youth-to-youth learning. With enthusiasm and patience, the ambassadors answered questions and shared practical tips for reducing everyday waste. The event connected cultural celebration with environmental action, giving EcoAlpha’s young volunteers an opportunity to practice leadership while encouraging more sustainable habits in their community.
