EcoAlpha youth collected, carefully sorted, and organized gently used clothing before donating the items to Savers. Working together, the youth helped ensure that wearable clothes could continue to be used rather than discarded. Their efforts made clothing available to individuals and families seeking affordable options while strengthening the participants’ teamwork, organization, and sense of responsibility toward their community.
Through this hands-on service activity, the youth learned that donating and reusing clothing can benefit both people and the environment. Extending the life of garments helps reduce textile waste in landfills and conserves the water, energy, and raw materials required to produce new clothing. By giving unwanted clothes a second life, EcoAlpha youth demonstrated how thoughtful everyday actions can support others, protect natural resources, and encourage more sustainable habits in the community.
